About Michael Valiant

Michael SimpsonizedI’m a Product Manager for 1ShoppingCart.com. Basically I do what it takes to get stuff done including (but not exclusively): research, design, writing, product management, business analysis, talking, more writing, SEO, community building, more talking, more writing, more research… etc.

I’ve had at least one ear and several fingers in the Internet Marketing, eCommerce and SEO communities for a number of years and have been lucky to talk to and study any number of incredible marketers, branding-gurus and entrepreneurs while working at 1ShoppingCart and through a few other projects I’ve run over the years.

This site is a little window into the things I have, and continue to learn.

I should probably also say that this is a personal blog. Views expressed here are my own and not those of my employer. If you want slightly more 1ShoppingCart related posting, check out my work eCommerce blog here. (currently not being updated… but relaunching soon!)

What else to say?

I’m passionate about innovation & new product development, technology, food, podcasting, media and music and all things ecommerce (copywriting, conversions, reputation management, SEO, social media etc)

Who is this Blog for?

If you’re looking for a blog on a specific topic, this is not the blog for you. I’m a Specialized-Generalist, both at work and play, with a wide variety of interests including:

And I can pretty much guarantee that I will jump back and forth between these topics (and others) as the day, my mood and the current task dictates (hey, I’m a Gemini, I can’t help it). There is a new generation of jobs opening up at companies all across the world who are dealing with all the changes the Internet is in the process of bringing about. And while these positions may come with a wide variety of job titles and descriptions the one thing they all have in common is, they necessitate a new breed of geek-marketers (as Rubel has coined) to step in and lead the way.

The business-geek (my more general idea of Rubels concept) must be savvy across traditional corporate divisions and be able to liaise equally well with customers, management, tech, sales, marketing, IT etc.

This blog is about my journey as a business-geek.
